In 2007 many friends encouraged us to launch an online photo contest. The idea was simple: we announce a subject in every month, the photographers post their best images and the registered members of the website decide. Basically the contest's rules are the same since the first subject. After the last contest of the year we summarize the points and announce a yearly winner. Certainly there were some minor changes: in the first years the voters choosed the best 3 photos, now they choose the best 5. Because the videographers wanted to join the fun, we announced a monthly snapshot contest for them with the same subjects. From this year we introduced a system of weighted voting, and we renamed the Picture of the month contest to Subsurface contest. (You can find the official rules here.)
We are happy to see the foreign competitors' photos in the contest, their wonderful images make our contest even more exciting. After the launch of the divingiscool.com we would like to invite even more photographers from all around the world! Certainly we have ideas how to make our contest even more attracting- stay tuned for the news.
Maybe many of the visitors would like to see the best photos of the past contests. You can browse the Picture of the month galleries or you can watch these videos: the best photos of 2009 and 2010 in two slideshows.
